Marine Week 2009 – Part 1
This is a busy week for me — between shooting all the Marine Week festivities, a few “normal” jobs and a wedding this weekend, there isn’t much time for anything else. The marines have been great to work with. They’re terribly polite, but it takes a little getting used to being called “sir” all the time.
The V-22 Osprey aircraft has flown to quite a few of the events, and it’s definitely something different. If you aren’t familiar with it, it’s a cross between a helicopter and a turboprop aircraft. It stopped traffic when people saw this thing flying overhead.

Flight crew give a pre-flight safety briefing to members of the media. Significantly more frank and direct than your standard airline safety talk.

Other aircraft on display included some helicopters. I liked the air-to-air refueling probe sticking off the front.
Marines also gave some boxing and wrestling pointers at local gyms.
